Welcome to Seamanship Training!
This is going to be a high speed, low drag training that will is designed to make you more competent in boat handling, marlinespike seamanship, mission planning, VBSS, and mission execution. You will be learning on Navy 7 Meter Rigid Inflatable boats. Cadets will earn the propeller and anchor appurtenance and will have the opportunity to earn the Marksmanship Ribbon. The cold weather is going to be the biggest challenge. If you properly prepare for the weather, this will be a fun and educational experience. The training starts 27 December at the W.E Skelton Center (775 Hermitage Rd, Wirtz, VA 24184).
Travel Notes: Check in time is 1000 at the 4H center, Reid Jones Lodge. Graduation is at 1000 on 05 JAN. It's the second building on the right in the main road coming in. Flights must arrive at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport or Lynchburg Regional Airport. Pickup will be at 1030 on 27DEC. Dropoff will be 1300 on 05JAN. Those needing to fly, please report travel details to the COTC ASAP. If your flight goes outside these perimeters, please contact COTC.
As of 02DEC, deposits are overdue. Billets are subject to cancellation for failure to submit training deposits.
